British Sausage Wreath

  • 1 lb. ground mild sausage, cooked
  • 1/2 c. breadcrumbs
  • Salt & pepper
  • Green seasonings like oregano, parsley, etc.
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 1 egg
  1. Preheat oven to 375F.
  2. Mix together cooled, cooked sausage, breadcrumbs, salt & pepper, and any green seasoning desired.
  3. Unroll the puff pastry and cut in half lengthwise.
  4. To one side of each long length of pastry, distribute the sausage mixture.
  5. Carefully roll the sausage mixture so that you have enclosed it in the blank side of the pastry. Lightly press closed.
  6. Form into a half circle and then abut the other sausage roll to it in order to form a full circle.
  7. Carefully cut ~1″ sections, not cutting through the pastry all the way so that the inner circle part remains attached.
  8. Gently twist each section so the sausage is facing up.
  9. In a small bowl, beat one egg and add a dash of water. Brush mixture onto the exposed pastry.
  10. Bake for 20 minutes until brown.
  11. Serve with any onion or mustard dip.
