Dishoom- Edinburgh

In the interest of Thanksgiving and a bunch of food related posts about to fill your feed and stomachs, let me join the club, but with a quick trip to India via recap of my recent experience at Dishoom in Edinburgh.

While Dishoom has about nine locations in the UK and even while Mindy Kaling sings this restaurant’s praises from the heights of social media, this was still never on restaurant lists. May I be the first to admit that I’m a huge idiot and I DON’T KNOW WHY. This is 1000% an Edinburgh staple for me going forward. It was phenomenal!

Thank goodness I arrived the restaurant with two hungry male colleagues; it was easy to order about everything that way. We had to wait outside in the cold for maybe 10 minutes until there was space in the fun bar downstairs, but they provide you with lovely tiny cups of chai to keep you warm. Once you get into the bar, creative tipples furthered the job.

And when you finally sit down… lamb samosas to soak it all up. Absolutely delish.

This blurry snap happened this way so that I could sneak a pic while everyone grabbed for a dish. Standouts for me were definitely the crispy shishito peppers and the house special dish of Salli Boti, braised lamb topped with crunchy chips.

Meow! Here’s that tender, crunchy Salli Boti up close. I promise to return again, solo, so that I can get some decent snaps (and snacks!) to share with you again. Don’t make the same mistake I did and wait on getting to Dishoom!
