Le Pietre Volte- Capo Vaticano

An easy find adjacent to the gorgeous Borgo Donna Canfora is Le Pietre Volte, the perfect restaurant for the first night of vaca…and in easy stumbling distance should you have had a wake-up call at 3am as we did. The large property hosts a rooftop terrace, expansive indoor dining space, more casual lawn setting, and even a gelato shop. We took the terrace for the sunset view that was mostly not blocked by the house in front of it.

Starving, we ordered many delicious things from the menu, including this standout of stuffed eggplant, a regional specialty.

Then I had a pasta topped with Sicilian red shrimp, when in Rome, and coated in a somewhat strange chickpea based sauce that I could have skipped.

The Gentleman won the pasta course with a pumpkin based sauce, topped with bacon and dried chili that brilliantly wasn’t spicy. Delightful.

For my plate, I took the octopus served on a potato mash- good, but not Spain good.

While he had the local black pork, slow roasted to perfection. The only dodgy bit was walking past the black pigs to get to the resto!

The waiter directed dessert towards tartufo and we both selected the version that had an Amaro core. Nothing like having your dessert and drinking your after dinner drink, too.

Not pretty, but there’s the liquid digestif core.

Le Pietre Volte was whatever you wanted it to be with it’s many dining options and we saw many tables of tourists and locals supporting this theory. The food was good, not hair blowing back, but a solidly good meal with nice service and good wine recos. Highly recommend.
