Hotel Parco dei Principe- Sorrento

Imagine a mix of the best vintage Miami Beach Hotels or maybe Palm Springs vibes are more apt, but cross that with the Amalfi coast and you’ll find yourself at the Hotel Parco dei Principe in Sorrento. The hotel’s design aesthetic was next level and rightfully so, as the first design hotel of famous architect, Gio Ponti. The watercoloring of this plaque in the garden set the fun, understated luxury tone well.

Palm Springs vibes, much?

The hotel is set on some seriously lovely gardens, perfect for a stroll or to sit and read a book in a hidden nook.

The pebble-tiled vintage reception desk was something out of a Wes Anderson daydream.

The lobby was a mix of vintage blues and interesting tiles. If I had a beach house, I could completely get behind a copy cat move.

The details really were incredible.

Off of the lobby was a gorgeous terrace facing Naples adjacent to a 16th century palace (also part of the property) built for a Neapolitan king.

As you can imagine, it was quite the spot for a sundowner.

Closed for renovations (and this gloomy weather), the pool area could have been a Miami relic. You could imagine lounging about the scene in a high-waisted bikini.

Off of the lobby is another pebble clad- cocktail bar. The service is abhorrently slow, think 1.5 hours for a club sandwich or 30 minutes for cocktails. That’s the only draw back with the hotel- not sure why they can’t get this together but it was a constant.

Heading upstairs, the pebbles will lead the way…

The rooms are spacious, especially for Italy. The blue theme continues and each room seems to feature a different, but equally fun tile floor.

Mandatory photo.

A small sitting area features a vintage reclining chair and cocktail table.

Again, totally Wes Anderson worthy was a (his) closet and bar area with a well-stocked fridge.

Well stocked with plenty of room for your own Franciacorta.

Obsessed with a “his and hers” hotel closet, hers is slightly larger and more organized with an integrated safe.

The bathroom was spacious, but is the one area that could use some updates.

The bath shower was extremely narrow and could benefit from a walk-in with all of that space.

The outside space is the reason to visit, of course. These views! That mirror (all over IG)!

The balcony is a worthwhile investment as it gives great views, day or night.

Bar service being the only drawback, Parco dei Principe is an an under-rated gem with gorgeous rooms, helpful staff, and lush grounds. Anyone would be lucky to spend a few nights here, just make sure not to order the club sandwich.
