After a long walk through the Fountainebleau castle and around the castle-front restos, I settled for lunch a few blocks back, somewhat away from tourist mayhem, at L’air du Temps. A small interior flanked with a covered patio seemed to drive a mix of locals and tourists on a Sunday afternoon. Lucky for me, I arrived just ahead of the lunch crowd to secure a table for one indoors.
I enjoyed the most gorgeous goat cheese salad, bombs of cheese crispily breaded and studded among a pile of fresh greens, pickled onions, lardons, cherry toms, and a bit more bread because France.

This was the salad special of the day and just the fact that they have a salad special speaks volumes about what a wonderful bistro this is. Give it a shout the next time you’re awaiting Sting to play in Fountainebleau…you’re going to be waiting awhile.
