Danico- Paris

After hearing of Danico from both The Little Red Door in Paris, one of the world’s top bars, and a top bartender of Fort Wayne, I felt exceedingly lucky to stumble across Danico one evening looking for a place to stop before dinner.

The bar is hidden in the back of a buzzy Italian restaurant with what looked like pizzas of the Gods.

The staff was very kind and accommodating with English to what seemed like a mostly American clientele. Perhaps it’s due to the sister affiliation with a bar in NYC as the man next to me loudly proclaimed.

I opted for the drink of the month which was a refreshing rhubarb and gin concoction. The presentation was simple and glass was small, but for 13 EUR it was a pretty good deal all things considered.

Next up was a mezcal creation recommended to me by the Chicago woman next to me. Not as spicy as I’d hoped, any craft cocktail is still enjoyable after living in Switzerland where they do not seem to exist.

It was a pleasant evening overlooking this quaint courtyard next door with old-timey flavored shops such as this bookstore.

Danico was a friendly atmosphere (free shots at a cocktail bar!?) in a gorgeous restaurant and that is the place I look forward to returning to next visit.
