<Said in the same tone as “….Canonballllll!!!!”> Mileage Runnnnnnnnnn! After all of my pinging back and forth to Europe the last six months, I still needed another 1,700 miles to hit Executive Platinum status. While my social life and time at the gym may be in the crapper, we are doing this damnit! And did it, we did with a 26 hour trip to Austin. What a great idea it was…
Check out this gorgeous upgrade that the South Congress Hotel gave me for a birthday celebration. On top of that, they let me check in at 10AM. Bless this staff!
Here is the very cozy sitting nook.

Followed by the expanse into desk and budoir territory.

The details and book selection made the industrial chic living area feel quite homey. And I was a big fan of the brass fixtures.

The bed was cozy and opened to a wall of windows, always a great way to start the day.

A narrow snack bar had anything you could want. The fridge was readily stocked to imbibe or not and ice took a mere five minutes to be delivered.

The day I chose to hang out in Austin was perfection and the view to bustling South Congress Avenue below may not look like much, but is iconic.

A few simple low slung chairs (that looked like cheese graters) were perfect to kick back with your feet up and watch the sunset.

I mean, how could you even imagine missing this gorgeous light?

For my birthday, the hotel treated me to a bottle of prosecco and white chocolate rice krispy treats. So fun!

The bathroom was absolutely massive with plenty of counter space for you and a mate.

The shower was open, simple, and ADA compliant which was just fine…

Because the tub was next level! I hung out here on my only morning, reading a mag and sipping iced coffee. Brilliant. The only hang up is that th hotel might provide some bubbles to keep me from dumping shower gel in an attempt for the same effect. Didn’t work, but created quite a gross looking film on top of the water though.

The one night stay at the South Congress Hotel was exceptional. I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a hotel like this. The property also hosts a charming pool, couple restaurants, cozy lobby bar, coffee shop, and several other retail outlets. Honestly, you never have to leave and why would you want to? After hmmming and hawwing over where to stay in Austin as there are so many newer properties, I can’t imagine a better, more personal stay that at the South Congress Hotel.
