Hotel Ambassador Restaurant

My home away from home recently has become the simply chic Ambassador Hotel in Nyon Switzerland. However, it was just this trip that I finally tried their restaurant. After working in the garden and sipping on rose wine, I started chatting with the charming restaurant manager, Walter, who insist that I must dine with them. This view could really convince a girl of about anything.

I started off with the lake shrimp salad which was a display of the end of summer’s colorful tomatoes, topped with a few shrimp. It was simple, light, and very nice. The confusing part were the giant shrimp heads and claws also adorning the plate as they were just shells and a little creepy to look at…

For my main I opted for the house specialty which is a homemade ravioli filled with an eggplant mixture. The white sauce you see is a green apple one! A very interesting combination indeed. This was good and the portion was quite large. I’m glad that I ticked the house specialty box, but will probably try something else next visit.

Since this was a splurge meal, I also had to try dessert. I was torn between a citrus something and tiramisu. I asked Walter just to choose the best thing on the menu. He opted for a parfait of sorbet that was floating in an absolutely massive glass of Campari. This was really aggressive. Needless to say, I did not consume much of it and was a bit disappointed. If you’re trying to combine both your sweet tooth and night cap though, this is a very sweet way to do so.
